Food for the Soul

Things are still going great for me, God is in control. I continue to feel His presence day by day knowing that complete healing is near. I had those nagging pains in my leg again that seem to make their presence known at night which was aggravating. I have not had any more episodes of coughing up blood nor have I felt the swollen lymph nodes in my chest. The nodes under my neck did swell a little but quickly returned to normal in about a day or so. I have not passed anymore parasites in about a month which is great. I hope they’re all gone as in dead! Every now and then I will have a headache that has me thinking sometimes “what is that about” but I know that I can not focus on every little pain, twitch, or symptom just keep my focus on God. His promises are true, by His stripes I am healed (friendly reminder healed – past tense as in already done).

This journey gets so much better day by day. The journey of healing in all aspects of my life. I have learned that healing is more than seeking physical restoration it is a spiritual acceptance in your heart that comes with a conviction. You know in your heart and have heard the words/confirmation from God. It’s not you telling yourself daily, trying to convince yourself in your mind that you are healed but a conviction in your heart where you can actually feel the love of God that has healed your body. This is the result of keeping your focus on God. He has given us the promise, we must activate enough faith to reach out and grab hold of the promise. Once you have the promise in full view, you must know it, believe it, and even remind God of the promise. You see if we focus on the symptoms like the physicians who can not find the cause nor cure; we lose sight of God therefore losing sight of healing. The scripture 1 Peter 5:7 says to cast all your cares upon him; for he careth for you. In casting your cares upon Him, keep you heart, mind, body, spirit, eyes and every part of your being totally on God. It is here where you will not only find healing you can see it, feel it and it will manifest itself in your life. Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Now that’s conviction!

As for the pain in my leg, good old fashion laughter made it go away. The weekend of July 27th, our family was blessed to celebrated our parent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary. YES, 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY!!! What a blessing! This was not only a monumental celebration but it was the first time we were all together in about 9 years. It’s been two weeks since the celebration and we are still just so elated about the time spent together and the memories made and shared. Simply put, we had a ball!

I am so thankful for being blessed to be a apart of The Wilson Family. I am thankful for the example they have set forth by their commitment to each other and to God. We (Moya and I) have in our marriage what some don’t, a live in color example, thanks mom and dad! Now, technically this part of my family are my “in-laws” but I particular don’t care for the title in-laws, when I married Moya I gained another set of parents and a brother (Steve), sister (LaVonnia) and two handsome sons (Moyer and Dominique). It’s not blood that makes family, it’s the loyalty and bond. Love you family!

Here is another blessing I’m thankful for: during this celebration the “C” word did not exist. We could have allowed it to consume the weekend but it never even came up. There were no whispers or wondering “is she feeling okay” or for some who haven’t seen me in awhile no concerns or question about my weight (for the curious, I weigh 127lbs.) or what is she eating or not eating. By the way I had a piece or two…or three..of cake!!!! HEAVEN…Anyway, it was just pure, unconditional, selfless LOVE! And what that love produced was a lot of laughter.

I don’t think I have laughed that hard, for that long and had so much fun in a while. Here’s how I know laughter healed those pains. A few days after the celebration I spoke with my sister, LaVonnia. I told her about the pain in my leg that was occurring almost every night before we left home. By the second day into our celebration the pain simply vanished. I slept like a baby for a week with no leg pains at all. She was amazed because her back pain had simply disappeared too which was amazing to me. We were both on the phone going “WOW”! Laughter IS good for the mind, body, and soul.

Don’t believe us…need scientific proof? Read this link which was published by the New York Times. Laughter has been studied and shown to improve few bodily functions, to name a few:

  • Boost immune system by increasing T cells activity
  • Lower blood pressure and cortisol levels
  • Reduce pain
  • Stabilize blood sugar
  • Changes chemicals in brain to buffer stress
  • Burn a few calories
  • Release endorphins which elevate mood

(Dr. Frank Lipman: Comic Relief: The Healing Power of Laughter, 2012)

And here’s the Biblical truth:

Proverbs 17:22 – A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

So go ahead, take two good belly full, knee slapping, tear dropping, hoot and holler until in hurt laughs and call me in the morning.

Love a Lot & Laugh Often
